The reputation of Pieter (also Pierre) Bustijn (Middelburg, 1649? - 1729), Dutch composer and organist, is due to the publication of the 9 Suittes pour le Clavessin by Roger Etienne. This fact brought these compositions under the sight of famous composers of his time, see J.S. Bach, J.G. Walther and certainly many others. The suites are in traditional form (Prelude, Allemanda, Corrente, Sarabanda, Giga) including a couple of Gavottas, a Bourée, 3 Airs and the final Menuet. Interesting is to note that in a couple of pieces we can find the the exact cells that Bach will then develop in his Inventions and Sinfonias.
The interpreter is Alessandro Simonetto, founder of OnClassical, here playing an original and virtuosistic style at the harpsichord. The sound is great and is also available in high definition (88.2 kHz * 24 bit).
